Come Fly With Me

Updated: Nov 17, 2018

There’s something quite serene looking out of an airplane window on a nice day. The ground a few thousand feet below, cars and buses just mere specks and watching the wind moulding the clouds and fog beneath you.

When most people think of travelling they might often associate the flight as one of the worst parts of the trip, however I take a bit of a different view when it comes to sitting high in the air in a sealed, pressurised tin can.

When I fly, and I’ve been doing quite a bit of it lately, I think you’re mad not the jump at the chance to enjoy some pure disconnect time. Away from the internet, away from the desk and away from the hustle and bustle, disconnected from the world below.

Now if you know me you’d know I hate not being productive and you’d think being away from WiFi and a phone line would drive me up the wall, not quite. I find flights are a fantastic time to strip it all back and turn to the pen and paper to get writing. As a matter of fact I’m writing this article on a plane right now.

There’s no reason to not be creating content, writing blog pieces, drawing up your strategy, reading research, listening to a podcast or simply writing up your to do list and action plan despite being thousands of feet above the world.

Up here there’s a sense of tranquility and peace, somewhere where I find I can really think clearly and have some of my best ideas. Of course this isn’t limited to a plane, you can hustle like this all the same in the back of an Uber, on a train, heck pretty much anywhere.

So next time you’ve got a flight or a ride, instead of dozing off asleep or leveling up on Candy Crush perhaps give some thought to a greater utilisation of your time, capitalise on your circumstances and get hustling. You’ll be surprised how productive you can actually be.
